These impostors also take photographs, claiming to offer energy-saving recommendations, and demand payment. The municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette currently does not assign any officials for such purposes.

Authentic municipal officials can speak Luxembourgish and are able to show a valid identification badge upon request.

If residents are unsure about the legitimacy of someone claiming to be a municipal official, they are advised to contact the municipality at 27 54 3600 or 27 54 4540 for verification.

In light of this situation, the police urge the public not to allow unknown individuals into their homes and to promptly report any suspicious persons to the emergency police number 113. According to the authorities, it cannot be ruled out that these criminals may potentially target other municipalities as well.
