The Diekirch Public Prosecutor's Office revealed Thursday that the examining magistrate overseeing the case visited the crime scene in Diekirch accompanied by the primary suspect - an effort to help investigators better reconstruct the crime.
The horrific murder of Diana Santos, a Portuguese woman in her forties who had recently moved to Diekirch, sent shockwaves through the Greater Region.
On 19 September 2022, the mutilated body of a woman was found in Mont-saint-Martin, France, just a short distance from the Luxembourg border behind an abandoned supermarket.
On 1 November, other parts of the same body were found in a car park in Temmels, also very close to Luxembourg.

The victim was ultimately identified by her tattoos, and DNA tests conducted by forensic experts from the University of Mainz in Germany conclusively confirmed that all the recovered body parts belonged to the same person. A 48-year-old man was arrested in the process.
Following the discovery of female body parts in Mont-saint-Martin and Temmels, the trail quickly led investigators to Luxembourg.
On Thursday afternoon, the Diekirch Public Prosecutor's Office revealed that the examining magistrate overseeing the case, accompanied by the primary suspect, had visited the crime scene in Diekirch. The goal of the visit was to help investigators better reconstruct the crime.
A forensic pathologist, members of the criminal investigation department, and technical police personnel were also present at the site to assist in the ongoing investigation.
