The Association of Teaching Assistants (ACEN) has issued a new statement to denounce what they consider continued discrimination towards them and their employment conditions.

"Unfortunately, the current administration has missed the opportunity to create a just recruitment system with fair employment conditions", notes the ACEN in a statement published on Monday morning.

The Association of Teaching Assistants shows itself determined to get their demands from the coming administration, especially since politicians are said to have long shown understanding for their situation: "The ACEN has prepared legal steps. Should it become necessary to take the legal road despite coherent argumentation, then we will also get union support."

The central message behind the ACEN statement is that equal work deserves equal treatment, meaning that teaching assistants should get the same pay and work conditions as teachers.

The Association states that this is even mandated by European law and that education is the only sector in Luxembourg where this is not being practiced.
