Over the next six years, Vianden will be governed by two mayors, each serving a distinct term. François Weyrich will assume the mayoral role for the initial three-year period, followed by Paul Petry taking the reins for the subsequent term.

The election results sparked a political upheaval in Vianden as the incumbent mayor, Claude Tonino, and his first alderman (Schäffen), Kevin Pereira Esteves, failed to secure seats on the municipal council. The ‘No beim Bierger’ citizens’ list, led by hotel and restaurant owner Paul Petry, emerged victorious, receiving the highest number of votes.

Petry will serve as the first alderman for the first three years of the term. At the midpoint of their tenure, the two men will swap their positions. Petry justified this decision by explaining that his continued involvement in his business prevented him from assuming the role of mayor immediately. Henri Majerus, former mayor, will assume the position of second alderman for the entirety of the six-year term.
