Good news for tourists and curious locals alike: One year after the reopening of the Pétrusse casemates, the Bock casemates will be reopening on Wednesday 14 June 2023, announces the Luxembourg City Tourist Office.
During the pandemic, the Bock casemates underwent essential “compliance” work, resulting in their temporary closure. The Tourist Office explains that these measures were crucial to ensure optimal conditions and utmost safety for visitors.
The comprehensive renovations involved the raising and repainting of railings, installation of fire doors, replacement of electrical systems, refurbishment of emergency exits, and general structural improvements to uphold the integrity of the casemates.

A visit to the Casemates du Bock takes you underground to the Rocher du Bock, a promontory in the historic centre of Luxembourg City. “Unique in the world, these labyrinthine underground galleries cut into the rock are part of the fortifications included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
They offer magnificent views of the old town, the Plateau du Rham, the Grund district, Neumünster Abbey, St John’s Church, the Plateau de Kirchberg, the Pfaffenthal district, and the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte Bridge.
In 2019, the Bock casemates attracted more than 150,000 visitors, a first since their opening in 1933. Starting from the reopening date, both casemates (Bock and Pétrusse) will be accessible simultaneously, seven days a week, from 10am to 5pm, almost all year round.
Visits last a maximum of 45 minutes. Ticket prices are set at €8 for adults, €6.50 for senior citizens or students, and €4 for children aged 4 to 12. Children under the age of 4 are entitled to free admission.
