The proposed changes are in response to an EU directive, requiring corresponding adjustments to existing legislation.

During the committee’s analysis of the proposed amendments on Thursday, it was determined that workers should be entitled to one day of leave per year in “situations of force majeure.”

In addition, a maximum of five days per year would be granted for the purpose of assisting or caring for a family member or an individual residing in the same household.

According to information available on the Chamber of Deputies’ official website, individuals seeking this leave would be required to provide medical evidence to substantiate their circumstances.
