Laura White and Daniel Redinger from the International School Michel Lucius came on the Sam Steen Show on Today Radio to talk about the school’s philosophy ahead of the Open Day.

The ISML is a state-funded international school that aims to create an “positive, productive and purposeful learning environment”.

White said: “At the core of our ethos is a celebration of inclusion and diversity and lifelong learning.” While lessons are taught only in English, the school’s community is incredibly multi-lingual, with over 60 different mother tongues spoken.

The school invites prospective students and parents to participate in a virtual information meeting on Thursday 6 May at 6pm, to find out more about all of the different classes and options the school has. The school has a really diverse offering and wants students to be able to focus on their passion and what they love, whether that be the arts or maths.

The on-site Open Day will be held on Saturday 6 May from 9am to 3pm. Visitors will be welcomed by friendly faces and shown around the campus. No registration is needed for either of these events but Redinger strongly recommends that parents sign up for the following school year as soon as they can, as the school cannot offer a space for every pupil that signs up.

The school has been growing remarkably quickly. In 2011, there were less than 20 students enrolled in the international classes. Now, there are over 1500, of which around 550 are enrolled in the international primary school and just under a thousand in the secondary school. The latter is also part of the Cambridge curriculum, offering international GCSEs and A-levels.
