Last Saturday, Parc Merveilleux in Bettembourg opened its doors for this year's season. With preparations in full swing, new features have arrived as well; You can now spend your night in a hostel right next to the park.
The new accommodation is adjacent to Renert. Better known as the fox in a tailcoat, Renert is the anti-hero of Michel Rodange's fable and literary classic in the Grand-Duchy.
The building, that looks like a castle with a tower, is one of eleven hostels that have been created in the south of the country from existing structures. They are located in unusual places along the 90-kilometre hiking trail "Minett Trail". It's fortunate location right next to the Parc Merveilleux is but one of its advantages.
The hostel can accommodate a family with up to two children. Next to the bedroom, the building has everything you need: a kitchen, bathroom, and a cosy lounge. When the weather is right, you can also dine and relax in the inner courtyard. The highlight for the younger guests will undoubtedly be the ladder that leads up into the tower and offers a wide view over the park.
Visitors have the possibility to stay several nights, with breakfast being delivered in the morning.
Parc Merveilleux in Bettembourg is Luxembourg's only zoo, boasting around 200 animal species from 5 continents. It houses ponies, some wild animals, playgrounds and a restaurant.
