Although the Chamber's health commission discussed the reimbursement of mental health treatments on Monday, it appears that no change is on the horizon when it comes to the reimbursement of psychologists.

According to Minister of Social Security Claude Haagen, it is clear that while the costs for psychotherapists will be reimbursed, those of psychologists will not be paid back.

MPs further discussed the Psycho-Social and School Support Service (SePAS), which they plan on expanding and improving with a new draft bill that would also allow pupils to use the service outside of school hours. At present, about 100 psychologists and 400 social workers and educators work across the country's 40 secondary schools.

Minister of Health Paulette Lenert explained that there are about 120 different services offering psychological support in the country. An overview is currently being established to improve the way in which people are referred to the most adequate contact points when they need assistance. She expects this process to be completed in the span of the next few weeks.

The rate for psychotherapists has been set at €144 per hour. Adults will receive a reimbursement of  70% from the CNS; children below the age of 18 will be reimbursed 100%. The patient will be able to see a psychotherapist up to three times before having to meet with a doctor.
