The gastronomic guide rewarded Luxembourg's most talented chefs at the Parc Hotel Alvisse Monday night. Four years after his first award, Roberto Fani was once again elected "Chef of the Year".

Restaurant guide Gault et Millau continues putting the spotlight on Ristorante Fani in Roeser. Last year, sommelier Giovanni Curcio won the favours of the guide, this year, head chef Roberto Fani won his second "Chef of the Year" award. He first won the title four years ago.

Fani thus joins the exclusive club of two-time winners, which includes chef Cyril Molard from Ma Langue Sourit in Contern. In his evaluation of chefs, Laurent Fery, director of Gault Millau Luxembourg, highlights "the perseverance, creativity, and consistency as much as the perpetual evolution" of Fani.

Restaurant Eden Rose, run by the young couple Caroline Esch and Valérian Prade, has also found itself in the spotlight for a second time. "Discovery of the Year 2022", the Kayl restaurant continues to impress, which has earned Valérian Prade the title "Young Chef of the Year" in the 2023 edition of the restaurant guide.

According to Fery, Prade "takes inspiration from the freshness and vegetable lightness of [La Distillerie head chef] René Mathieu and from the essentialism of Cyril Molard."

The story, but more importantly the great talent of two Ukrainian pastry chefs has finally melted the hearts of food critics. Iryna Kulakova and Kateryna Podliesna joined the kitchen of Ryôdô a few months ago, further advancing rising chef Ryôdô Kajiwara, who has been racking up awards, including "Discovery of the Year" and a first Michelin star, since opening his restaurant in the midst of the Covid crisis. The two pastry chefs from Kiev share the title of "Pastry Chef of the Year" in the 2023 edition.
