Several rescue teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident, which took place near Weiler-la-Tour.
The accident occurred between Weiler-la-Tour and Schlammestee at 4.35am on Monday. According to the CGDIS (the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps), three people were struck by a car, with two suffering serious injuries.
The driver of the car failed to stop at the site of the crash. He was later arrested and brought before investigating magistrates on Monday afternoon.
Ambulances from Dudelange, Luxembourg, as well as Samu emergency responders from the capital and Esch-sur-Alzette, and emergency services from Weiler-la-Tour and Hesperange were sent to the scene.
CR132 was closed off after the accident and remains shut to traffic until further notice.
