The temporary location had to be closed down due to security concerns. At the moment, impounded cars are stationed all throughout Esch, according to Mischo.
One-and-a-half years ago, the Mayor of Esch and MP for the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) urged Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox and the police to quickly find a solution. Both the Crassier Terre Rouge and the Arcelor warehouses in Esch-Schifflange could only be used as temporary solutions.
As of recently, the impounded cars are stationed randomly in the streets of Esch. This situation cannot go on like this, Mischo stresses, warning that “the right people” will soon take note that cars are stationed here “and serve themselves or destroy things”. For Mischo, it is up to the state to solve the issue. The Mayor of Esch points out that a solution had already been found, the Eurohub in Bettembourg, but the plans were “shut down by another ministry”. “The state must finally take responsibility,” Mischo criticises.
The Mayor is particularly worried as the impounded vehicles are stationed close to schools, where they are blocking parking spaces.
