Six more cases of monkeypox were identified in the last week, bringing Luxembourg's total to 14 as of 19 July.
In a press release issued on Friday morning, the Ministry of Health confirmed that thus far, none of the patients had required hospitalisation.
Europe recorded some 10,600 cases of monkeypox across 36 countries this week - an increase of 2,370 cases compared to last week. Around 42% of cases are people aged between 31 and 40 years old, while 99.5% are male. 254 people have been hospitalised with the infection across Europe, with only one admitted to intensive care so far.
In the majority of cases, the virus causes a rash and systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, chills, sore throat or headache.
The Ministry of Health has issued a reminder of protective measures against the virus, which include washing hands regularly with soap, avoiding sharing bed linen and towels with infected people or those who have been in contact with infected people, and protecting yourself in case of sexual contact.
