Luxembourg City police were on high alert Friday evening, thwarting a burglary and apprehending suspects in two separate incidents.
At around 8.30pm, authorities were called to a house in the Weimerskirch neighbourhood after a homeowner received an alarm notification on their phone. The homeowner was able to observe the burglar in real time via surveillance cameras.
By the time police arrived, the intruders had already fled. Thanks to a swift response, the suspects were quickly located. However, they attempted to escape again, leading to a foot chase assisted by a police dog and aerial support from a helicopter equipped with a thermal camera.
Ultimately, the police managed to successfully identify and arrest the two suspects. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the individuals were presented before the investigating judge on Saturday morning.

In a separate incident earlier that day, at approximately 2pm on Rue Joseph Junk, a victim was approached and assaulted by two unknown individuals. The criminals lulled the victim in to a talk before stealing her wallet from her handbag.
Police launched an investigation and tracked down the suspects, who had already used the victim’s bank card to make purchases. One suspect was subsequently arrested and also brought before the investigating judge.
