Two days after arresting a criminal gang specialised in high-end vehicle theft, the Luxembourgish police have now caught criminals specialised in SUV theft.

Luxembourg has been facing a surge in SUV thefts in recent months, carried out by highly specialised international networks, according to Luxembourg's police.

As part of a coordinated operation involving the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Luxembourg Investigating Magistrate's Office, and the Special Police Unit, investigators from the criminal investigation department (SPJ) managed to identify and intercept a second criminal group targeting SUVs.

Thanks to crucial surveillance, authorities were able to locate the suspects as they moved across the country in search of their next vehicle. Two individuals were caught in the act and arrested while attempting to steal an SUV. Searches conducted during the operation led to the seizure of a range of electronic equipment used to open and start vehicles.

At this stage of the investigation, the two suspects are believed to be connected to the theft of at least eight vehicles in Luxembourg, as well as numerous other incidents abroad.
