After the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Hopping Procession had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the Luxembourgish tradition returns to Echternach on 7 June this year.
Once again, organisers of the Hopping Procession expect thousands of participants and spectators to descend on Echternach for the event.
In 2010, Echternach's Hopping Procession has been granted the status of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.
Programme of the 2022 edition
8pm: Opening ceremony and prayer, conducted by Dr Stephan Ackerman, Bishop of Trier
8.30am: Line-up of the procession
9.15am: Address by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, Archbishop of Luxembourg
9.30am: Beginning of the procession
1pm: Expected arrival of the last participants at the Saint Willibrod basilica, followed by a final prayer.
