For the upcoming tourist season, visitors will be able to discover the country's culinary specialities at six venues across the Grand Duchy.

The tourism sector has a considerable economic and social impact. It is not only a creator of employment and an economic driver, but it also has a central function in improving the quality of life of residents, border residents and tourists, as well as in the sustainable development of Luxembourg.

Tourism businesses will benefit from a new advisory service while the needs of local residents will be taken into account with a broad focus on ecological, economic, social and cultural sustainability.

More effort will also be put into developing digital initiatives, while new networks will be developed between businesses and local populations to help grow the sector.

In this context, Delles indicated that an investment in tourism is always an investment in the quality of life of the inhabitants. According to Delles, the new tourism strategy will therefore benefit tourists, residents, border residents and businesses in the sector.

He proceeded to thank all the actors who have participated in the development of the new Luxembourg tourism strategy.

This year's campaign focuses on gastronomic tourism with the project "Vakanz genéissen" (enjoy your holiday), which consists of gathering one hundred people around a table set up in idyllic tourist locations.

As a mobile installation, the table will be set up and dismantled at six different locations during the weekends from 23 July to 28 August 2022. The dinners will be prepared by local chefs and will offer the opportunity to taste regional products and to showcase the skills of the chefs.

"Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz" (Luxembourg, now that is a holiday) also includes the following projects:

  • "Vëlosummer" (cycling summer), the opening of privileged routes for cyclists throughout the country

  • "Guide For One Day", the possibility of discovering unusual places with a guide for a day.
