In October 2021 the alleged perpetrator brought his niece to school, then hid in the toilets where he then proceeded to attack a young girl from Cycle 2.
The story has seen a surge in interest over the past days, and we saw a lot of conversations about the case across local social media groups. In response to the questions raised among the community, RTL Today reached out to relevant parties for an update.
Marc Lies, the mayor of Hesperange, stated that the case is now in the hands of the Justice Department, and that the municipality therefore is not privy to further information on the state of the investigation. However, Lies emphasised that the municipality took all the necessary steps to ensure an occurrence like this won't happen again. Lies specifically pointed out that they arranged for extra security at the buildings.
RTL Today also reached out to the spokesperson for the judicial administration, Henri Eippers. He told us that the criminal investigation is still ongoing and that the suspect is still in police custody, but could not give us any further updates.
