2021 was the first time that the most common ground of discrimination was not disability, but ethnic origin and skin colour, according to the Centre for Equal Treatment (CET).
In 2021, of the 245 cases handled by the CET, 60 cases were on the grounds of race or ethnic origin, 48 on disability, 43 on gender, ten on age, nine on sexual orientation, and nine on religion. In addition, 16 cases were classified as 'multiple discrimination' and 50 as 'other'.
124 cases could be resolved, 19 cases are still pending. In 55 cases the claimants withdrew, in 41 cases there was no way to prove any form of discrimination, and in six cases there was no right of intervention.
The CET also systematically analysed job advertisements published in 2021 and identified 82 that did not comply with equal treatment. 78 advertisements discriminated on the basis of gender, three on the basis of age and gender, and one on the basis of age.
During the presentation of its annual report, the CET pointed out that 2021 was the first time that the most common ground of discrimination was not disability, but ethnic origin and skin colour.
