The traditional 'Duck Race', which is organised every year in Luxembourg City, will take place on the square in front of Neimënster Abbey on Saturday, 23 April.
On 23 April, some 16,000 plastic ducks will be released on the Alzette river. As every year, the very peculiar 'Duck Race' organised by the Luxembourg Round Table is expected to gather many participants.
The activities of this 21st edition will start at noon before the release of the ducks at 3pm on the Alzette. Due to renaturation work around the Pétrusse, the ducks will be released on a different river in 2022.
This year, the profits of the day will be donated to the Luxembourg Autism Foundation, 'SOS Kannerduerf', and 'Indiana Jos', according to the municipality of Luxembourg City.
You can sponsor a duck for €5. Each "competitor" will be given a number corresponding to a lottery ticket. The winners of the race will be able to win numerous gifts: trips, vouchers, dinners… The municipality announced that the grand prize this year will be a Volkswagen Taigo (an SUV coupé, editor's note).
