The police have been informed that several people have once again received fraudulent e-mails claiming to be from the police director, which is of course a scam.
In these e-mails, individuals are seemingly contacted in the context of criminal investigations by the director general of the Luxembourg police or sometimes even by foreign police forces. These e-mails were obviously not sent by the Luxembourg authorities or by their foreign colleagues.
The police have been contacted more than 200 times in the last few days about these spam mails. For this reason, the police have seen it necessary to reiterate that this is a scam and that they do not contact individuals in this way.
People who receive such messages are asked not to react to the content of the e-mail. Instead, they should ignore it, delete it, and mark the sending address as false and dangerous.
