Transportation between the Park and Ride at Roussy-le-Village in France and Kirchberg is set to be made free of charge as part of a pilot project.

The Ministry for Mobility and Public Works made the announcement on Monday morning.

Public transport has been free of charge in Luxembourg for close to two years.

Since then, cross-border workers have benefited from a price reduction, but the new project will seek to make one cross-border route completely free of charge.

The 323 bus route starts in Roussy-le-Village, just five kilometres across the French border, and passes through Frisange before ending in the Kirchberg neighbourhood of Luxembourg City

The pilot project will come into effect on 31 January and is set to last six months.
