Luxembourg's head of state, Grand Duke Henri, tested positive for Covid-19, the Grand Ducal Court announced on Tuesday.
Following a positive self-test on Tuesday, the Grand Duke placed himself in self-isolation on Tuesday morning in accordance with the provisions laid down by the National Health Directorate. A subsequent PCR test confirmed this result, and the Head of State is in isolation, in accordance with the provisions of the amended law of 17 July 2020 on measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The Grand Duke is currently experiencing mild symptoms and will continue to perform his duties.
Following the positive COVID-19 result of the Grand Duke, the official departure of Ministers Dan Kersch, Romain Schneider, and Pierre Gramegna scheduled for Wednesday, 5 January, will be cancelled. The swearing-in of the new ministers Claude Haagen, Georges Engel, and Yuriko Backes will take place at the Grand Ducal Palace as planned. In view of his isolation, the Grand Duke will proceed with the swearing-in by video conference from Berg Castle.
