
Monday's state council session could be the last meeting for both politicians.
It was already known that both ministers intended not to run again, while rumour also has it that they might even step down before the next elections. Sources familiar with the matter have now conveyed that both politicians may even step down before the Christmas holidays.
LSAP's board of directors is scheduled to convene on Tuesday and expected to announce the departure of both ministers during a subsequent press conference. Minister Kersch is alleged to switch into the Chamber of Deputies as a MP, while Minister Schneider will enter political retirement.
LSAP fraction leader Georges Engel and Diekirch Mayor Claude Haagen could potentially fill some of the roles formerly held by the two politicians. Minister of Health Paulette Lenert is expected to take on the role as Deputy Prime Minister.
