The confusion around the case is palatable. Members of the council have stated that the Institute no longer exists, while others have noted that the future will be decided during a congress in 2022.

The Women’s Institute was founded in 1930 and accumulated several thousand members over the years. It is mainly involved in humanitarian and social projects, but the Institute has also helped train educators, lead a daycare, and organise cultural holidays.

The daycare in Rumelange will supposedly remain in place, officials have told our colleagues at RTL.lu. However, holiday activities suffered considerably under the pandemic, which is why their offices were closed and the staff let go. According to sources, the financial situation of the non-profit has also become problematic.
