The passengers were initially supposed to fly back to Luxembourg on Saturday evening.

The LG 786 flight was scheduled to leave at 7.10 p.m. on Saturday. However, a critically important piece of equipment needed replacement, which is why the plane was unable to leave as planned.

Luxair CEO Gilles Feith confirmed that all passengers were accommodated in a hotel overnight, and should be able to depart from Faro tonight, around 24 hours later as scheduled.
