The Chamber of Deputies revealed that a major data leak occurred on its website.

A technical error caused the publication of data of people who had signed petitions for a period of several weeks.

The Chamber of Deputies specifies that the data was not visible on the new website dedicated to petitions, and that the technical teams have fixed the error on the website.

As a result of this technical problem, the names and places of residence of more than 24,000 petition signatories would have been visible between June and August 2021 on the Chamber's main website. This publication would probably have occurred without the consent of the individuals concerned. The error was corrected on 2 August, and a detailed analysis of the problem is still underway.

Normally, each user must first give explicit consent for the name and place of residence to be published when signing a petition.
