Luxembourg’s prospects for a white Christmas have faded for another year, with no snowfall expected for New Year’s celebrations either. However, colder temperatures are on the horizon.

A high-pressure system currently over Scandinavia will shift towards northwestern Europe this weekend, bringing a chill to the Grand Duchy. Friday will be dry and cold, featuring ample sunshine accompanied by an icy northeasterly wind. Gusts may reach 20 to 30 km/h, with highs not expected to exceed 4 degrees.

The night into Saturday will be clear and starry, with temperatures dropping to -3 degrees. The weekend will continue similarly – dry, cold, and sunny. As the new year begins, winter is forecast to make a brief return, raising the question: might a few snowflakes finally appear?
