Coronavirus weekly report - education38 cases identified in schools, one infection chain in Frisange

The number of Covid cases in schools has dropped once more this week, according to a statement by the Ministry of Education.

38 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in schools from 14 to 20 June - a decrease of 21, compared to the previous week.

The majority of infections fell under scenario 1, that is, a single positive case in a class without spreading through the school. 11 secondary schools, 9 primary schools and one competence centre were affected.

Two cases fell under scenario 2, in two different secondary schools with a maximum of two infections in one class.

There were three cases in scenario 3, with between 3 and 5 infections detected in one secondary school class.

Finally, a cluster was detected in a primary school in Frisange, falling under scenario 4. One teacher and one pupil tested positive on 14 June following self-administered tests. The entire class in cycle 4.2 were sent home as a result. The next day, another teacher in cycle 4.1 tested positive, followed by 12 further cases up until 23 June.

All pupils in the Frisange primary school were required to take a rapid test on Thursday.
