According to the National Employment Agency (Adem), this represents a drop of 900 people compared to April.
When compared to May 2020, it is a fall of 2,900 people (-14%). The national unemployment rate currently stands at 5.9%.
At the moment, close to 9,100 people receive full unemployment benefits, while around 4,600 people receive one form of support.
Adem further notes that the number of employers offering positions is also continuously increasing. In May, close to 4,000 job offers were made, a rise of 74% compared to last year. This means that Adem has close to 8,900 open positions, 550 in the hospitality sector alone.
Around 487,400 people are currently employed in the Grand Duchy, cross-border workers included. This represents a rise of 3% over the course of a year.
