On Friday, Belgium placed highest with a rate of 1.27. The Netherlands came in second with 1.18, closely followed by the Grand Duchy at 1.15. The EU average is 0.91.

While both Germany (0.96) and France (0.92) remain close to the average ratio, countries like Bulgaria (0.25) and Ireland (0.11) form the back of the pack.

Wouter Beke, who is the Minister for Welfare, Public health, Family and Poverty reduction in the Flemish Regional Jambon Government, underlined that the Flemish region vaccinates more than any other region in Belgium. They aim at having administered first jabs to 70% of the adult population by 21 June, the official starting date of summer.

The politician praised the local infrastructures and medical staff for their efforts in the process.
