The minister explained the new Covid-Check system in RTL’s 30th and final episode of Wellebriecher. Through this new initiative, identifying whether one is vaccinated, tested, or healthy will be made easier. The goal is to make large-scale events possible or to facilitate visits to the restaurant.
Those who are not vaccinated will be invited to the large-scale testing scheme more regularly to profit from the covid-check system as well. During her guest appearance, Lenert seemed optimistic about returning to normal life this autumn. However she stresses the need to remain vigilant to avoid nasty and unwelcome surprises.
She also reminded that the large-scale testing scheme remains an essential tracing tool. Even if certain people have been vaccinated, the Ministry underlines the need to get tested so the virus can be traced as efficiently as possible.
Especially with the younger parts of the population that are still awaiting vaccination, the free testing scheme helps to monitor the virus and allows the Ministry of Health to adapt to whatever is currently needed.
Whether the vaccine will withstand new variants remains unknown to the minister. She hopes that further waves will be avoided and that the infection rates remain low in the future.
