According to RTL sources, the National Centre for Archeological Research, short CNRA, discovered relicts from the 7th Century behind the "Petite Marquise" in Echternach.

The relicts thus date back to the period of Saint Willibrord. They contain the traces of old foundations, as well as those of a former moat securing the parameter.

Furthermore, they found relicts from early Roman times when Count Siefried was in charge of the Echternach monastery. Traces of a building and a surrounding wall were uncovered.

The site is known to have fallen victim to a fire in the 15th Century, but parts of it have been well-preserved. The archeologists found coins and a golden ring at the site.

RTL sources further conveyed that the national heritage commission is likely to be put in charge of the discovery, and that the site could potentially be declared a national monument.
