The hospital is now looking to replace their former director after the tumultuous last weeks.
The hospital board has officially issued an appeal for candidatures, which it accepts both from national and foreign sources. Until a successor is found, Sandra Thein will take over reigns.
The selection committee is made up of both vice presidents Claude Seywert and Michel Würth, as well as Marie Josée Jacobs, and Dr Robert Steinmetzer. President Jean Louis Schiltz is not part of the committee.
The departure of director Schummer is related to a rogue vaccination initiative, which he personally launched a few weeks ago. Schummer stated afterwards that the hospital board knew about his project, which they denied. At the time, the hospital was still recovering from another vaccination scandal, during which three of its board members gained premature access to their doses.
