The EMA declared the vaccine ‘safe and effective’ after several cases of blood clots were reported across Europe, leading countries to temporarily halt vaccinations.

The Ministry of Health said that ‘on the basis of the EMA’s analysis, the advantages of the vaccine largely outweigh secondary risks.’

‘Luxembourg will therefore resume vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday 19 March,’ the ministry confirmed.

However, the ministry also stated that ‘the government takes the safety of vaccines very seriously. All vaccines are carefully examined. The vaccination campaign saves lives by protecting as quickly as possible those most vulnerable to Covid-19, and it offers the best way to defeat this virus.’
