Prime Minister Luc Frieden opened his remarks with a solemn emphasis on Luxembourg's stability, social cohesion, and effective social dialogue, stating that these factors make him proud to lead the country.

Frieden highlighted the ability of government and social partners to come together and seek solutions, contrasting this with what he described as “significantly more tense” situations in neighbouring countries. “We are able to sit around the table to discuss and find solutions, whereas the situation is much more strained in other countries, including some of Luxembourg’s direct neighbours”, he observed.

Frieden reflected on the objectives set in June, asserting that “these goals have so far been achieved and are working.” He pointed to strengthened purchasing power and a slowdown in inflation, while acknowledging the ongoing challenges posed by a difficult geopolitical context and unpredictable energy prices. The Prime Minister linked these energy market uncertainties directly to crises in the Middle East and Ukraine.

A further meeting is scheduled for 29 October, with a focus on concrete figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (STATEC) and the National Employment Agency (ADEM). Frieden indicated that this session should allow for a more detailed assessment of the current measures, and may be followed by additional announcements in the months ahead.
