The general director of the Hôpitaux Robert Schuman group, Dr Claude Schummer, is said to have parted ways with the hospital group, according to information first published by Luxemburger Wort on Wednesday evening.

A spokesperson for the group confirmed later that evening that Schummer had not been seen at the office that week. But there has been no formal press release confirming his departure to date.

The HRS group did communicate that it had purchased 100,000 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, which was not announced during a recent press conference by the group defending the board's premature vaccination.

According to RTL sources Dr Schummer is being shown the door as he had put in the order of the vaccines without informing other members of the board. Furthermore, this purchase would not correspond to the agreement that vaccines are to be centrally procured via the EU Commission.

Dr Gregor Baertz, the group's medical director, is generally seen as his successor.
