Following the recent controversy surrounding a supposedly premature vaccination of hospital board members, director Jean-Louis Schiltz addressed the press during a conference on Thursday morning.
Over the past couple of days, a number of people have voiced their disapproval over Robert Schuman hospital's early vaccination of board members. Director Jean-Louis Schiltz, who is among the board members to already have received a jab, has now taken a position on the issue. On Thursday morning, he denied any wrongdoing and emphasised that he will not be lectured when it comes to decency and morals.

Schiltz argued that everyone was at liberty to have their own opinion about the hospital's interpretation of the government vaccine mandate, but that that the board was also allowed to provide an explanation. He reiterated their stance on the vagueness of the original mandate, which was only rectified after they had already vaccinated the three board members in question. Furthermore, Schiltz stated that he would create an unnecessary risk every time he entered the hospital without being vaccinated. He also stressed that after all, the board was fully responsible for the safety of the hospital. Schiltz concluded that they had to take a decision right at the beginning and acted with great precaution.
The former CSV minister therefore refutes any claims of wrongdoing and denies having stolen doses of the vaccine. He does not believe that the hospital ignored the government mandate on how to proceed. Schiltz emphasised that he and the others were among the very last in the hospital to receive their jabs. Additionally, given that there was a certain amount of scepticism at the beginning, it was important for people to see that the board members were committed to getting vaccinated. Finally, Schiltz criticised the vague directions given out by the hospital federation at the beginning of the campaign.
