Members of the government met with representatives of the hospitality sector on Monday morning, and the Horesca sector has called it a "fruitful exchange" in a press release issued on Wednesday.

Amongst the representatives from Horesca, Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy Dan Kersch, Minister for Finance Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Social Security Romain Schneider and Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Tourism Lex Delles attended.

Concrete measures to support the areas of hotels, restaurants and cafés were agreed upon.

First, aid will be given to cover a large proportion of fixed costs, such as rents and wages. A form online will allow businesses to request these reimbursements.

On matters of social security, the Board of Directors of the CCSS and the Minister of Social Security have decided to suspend the collection of social contributions during the period businesses are closed.

Furthermore, in terms of reimbursement by the Employers' Association, all companies will be able to benefit from 100% reimbursement instead of the usual 80%. This measure will be applied retroactively to 1 July 2020.

Finally, the parties have not found a solution with regards to introducing a 3% VAT rate on alcoholic beverages in 2021. They agree to meet again in a few weeks.

The Chamber of Deputies must now vote on the text next week.
