The Ministry of Health has confirmed that yesterday's report on Monday's Covid-19 figures was subject to "technical problems" which generated inconsistencies.
The ministry statement confirms that yesterday's detailed PDF report was removed after publication, something which we reported in our daily update. The statement also notes that no report will be published today, as they continue to work on a solution to the underlying technical issue. Both reports will be published as soon as a the issue has been rectified.
Yesterday's update did indeed lead to some confusion and speculation, as the total number of cases since the start of the outbreak jumped by some 1,035, while only 388 new cases were confirmed on Monday. Meanwhile, the number of active infections was also reported to have increased by over 900, which does not comfortably align with the number of new infections found.
The official Covid-19 website continues to state that 388 new infections were reported yesterday, which we presume to be correct at the time of writing, though uncertainty does remain. Minister of Health Paulette Lenert will hold a press briefing alongside Prime Minister Xavier Bettel at 3pm today, during which we expect a more detailed explanation to be given.
