The Prime Minister and Minister of Health delivered a press briefing at 3pm on Wednesday.

The two ministers last held a joint press briefing on 4 November, focusing on Luxembourg's vaccination strategy.

They also held a briefing on 23 November, in which they announced that the curfew which was set to expire at the end of November would be extended until 15 December. New containment measures — including the closure of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, gyms, and indoor playgrounds, and lowering the number of household visitors to two (from one other household) — were also announced. At this briefing, Bettel said it was "time to apply the handbrake," to manage the situation in hospitals and lower the high plateau of new cases seen over the past weeks prior to the briefing.

As was the case on 23 November, Wednesday's briefing will follow a meeting of the government council, and the ministers are set to provide an outline of what is agreed. While there is little official information on what will be announced in the briefing, RTL sources say it is 'highly unlikely' that the current restrictions will indeed expire on 15 December. We may therefore see these restrictions extended over the holiday period.

RTL Today will have a live video stream of the press briefing, and will run ticker translations of the most important information as the briefing progresses, followed by a summary article.
