As cases soar, events across the country are experiencing cancellations or postponement.

According to RTL sources, the following events have been cancelled.

Events and Fairs

The municipality of Schifflange has announced the inauguration of the new bowls court on 23 October will not take place. The Sustainability Day event, due to take place at the Vernissage Expo on 24 October, has also been cancelled.

A workshop tackling future plans for a development in Dommeldange on 27 October has also been cancelled as a result of the rise in cases.

Sports

Due to the detection of several Covid cases, a number of basketball league games this weekend will no longer take place:

Friday, Men’s basketball:
Telstar Hesper - US Heffingen; Sparta Bertrange- Musel Pikes; T71 - Basket Esch

Sunday, Men’s:
Basket Esch - Sparta

Friday, Women’s basketball:
Etzella - T71; Gréngewald Hostert- Résidence

Sunday, Women’s:
Etzella - Gréngewald -Hostert

These cancellations are in addition to the following games which had already been cancelled due to Covid: Hesperange-Hiefenech, Dudelange-Esch and Bertrange-Moselle Pikes in the men’s league and Ettelbruck-Dudelange in the women’s league

A number of Covid cases have been identified among the Schifflange mens’ handball team, which means the AXA League game between HBC Schifflange and HB Käerjeng on Saturday 24 October will be postponed. A new date has not yet been confirmed.

The U-19s game against HB Pétange 2 has been postponed for the same reasons.

The 2020 nature run in Kockelscheuer on 25 October has been cancelled.

The Luxembourg Cycling Federation (FSCL) has decided to cancel the 3 country championship on 25 October. ACC Contern has also announced the cancellation of the International Cyclocross on 31 October.

The second edition of the Vianden X-perience Trail, powered by Securitec, has been postponed from 29 November to 5 December 2021.

The FLD (Bristle Darts Federatioun) has decided to pause the championship until 5 December 2020. The three matches affected will be postponed to 2021 for the current season.
