The chamber commission for justice and interior safety will discuss issues in the district on Wednesday morning.

Violence, drug traffic and consumption, homeless people and begging create an uncomfortable atmosphere around the capital's central station.

The chamber of deputies will therefore discuss safety in the district on Wednesday morning, ministers Tanson, Bausch, and Kox being at the forefront of the issue.

The situation has calmed since the beginning of the lockdown and through the deployment of an additional thirty police officers.

Mayor Lydie Polfer underlined that the number of patrolling forces should not be reduced, since the lifting of restrictions would be accompanied by a rise in crime.

Polfer relies on the administration to maintain their support in the district. The mayor explained that the city policy would cover matters of social responsibility to help those in need, but that police presence was still needed.

When it comes to begging around the area, no legal basis to treat the issue has yet been found.
