Chamber of DeputiesMunicipalities did not inform ministries that they were distributing masks

RTL Today
Municipalities informed neither the Ministry of Health nor the Ministry of Home Affairs that they planned to distribute masks to people over 65.

The Ministers of Home Affairs and Health, Taina Bofferding and Paulette Lenert, stated this in their answer to an urgent parliamentary question by Green Party MP Marc Hansen. The ministries were not aware what type of masks had been distributed. The ministers added that if municipalities wish to distribute masks, they have to inform their citizens on how to use them correctly in order to avoid creating a false sense of security.

In her answer to another question by Green Party MPs Marc Hansen and Josée Lorsché about the cancellation of events due to coronavirus, Paulette Lenert also stated that the departments of her ministry advised organisers on risk assessment. Her staff processed approximately 300 such applications in only a few days. Most requests were answered in less than 24 hours while only some cases required 2 or 3 days to be processed, due to vague information in the initial application. According to the minister, most organisers were thankful for the assistance they received.
