Funerals have been impacted by coronavirus measures.

Two weeks ago, Luxembourg's Archdiocese announced funerals should be restricted to close family members only.

In the event of a death, representatives of the church are meant to advise the deceased's family members of the restrictions.

However, in spite of the measures, police were forced to intervene at a funeral in Larochette last weekend, where a large number of people who had congregated there had to be forcibly removed from the cemetery by officers.

In light of this, the archdiocese has asked priests to advise family members to only publish obituaries after the funeral ceremony.

Church services which usually follow funerals are also being postponed or added to the 6-weekly mass services.
