Staff are working in shifts to cover the Coronavirus hotline 24/7.

On average, 2,000 people call the Coronavirus hotline 8002 8080 each day.

The helpline is especially helpful for those who show symptoms or would like to know more about their work rights.

The number is reachable 24/7 and the staff is made up of individuals from the Police, CGDIS and other administrations.

The hotline was put in place at the beginning of March. Whilst at the beginning people mostly asked questions about symptoms, causes and testing for the virus, there have most recently been more questions surrounding education and work rights.

As the hotline receives around 2.000 calls a day, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps are reminding residents to first check the official government website under the dedicated Coronavirus section.

For any answers not listed on the website, people can call the hotline, also as a means of reducing the amount of calls to the emergency number 112.

Staff are currently working in shifts and they are able to adjust the capacity of 18 phone lines in case demand increases.

Whilst the daily number of calls has been more or less constant, they are expecting an increase in the near future.

Report in Luxembourgish.
