A French cross-border worker has tested positive for coronavirus, the Ministry of Health confirmed this Monday.

According to the ministry, the man works in Luxembourg but resides in France. The infection reportedly took place in France, which is also where the patient will be treated. Luxembourg's health inspection is working on tracing the people the individual was in contact with in the Grand Duchy.

Later, the Robert Schuman Hospital announced that the man in question is an employee of the Bohler clinic, but have clarified that he was not in contact with patients. The French authorities confirmed the diagnosis over the weekend and the patient is self-isolating at home, as he is showing few symptoms and is doing well. The authorities reported that the person in question had a link to northern Italy.

The hospital has begun all necessary procedures and already contacted any individuals that came into contact with him. The Sanitary Inspection Unit tested several people and referred to quarantine measures. So far, five people residing in Luxembourg have contracted coronavirus Covid-19 and 69 are being quarantined.
