The first women's strike to be organised in Luxembourg is kicking off at 3 pm in Luxembourg City.

The "Journée internationale des femmes" (International Women's Day) platform called upon people to join the strike. The march will go from Place d'Armes to the Rotondes. The organisers have acknowledged that it will be a symbolic strike due to the day being Saturday, but have nevertheless urged people to join in the name of gender equality.

The cause driving the strike is the existence of continuing inequalities between men and women, especially in the domain of caring for others. Women still do the majority of both paid and unpaid care work, which includes free and invisible housework.
