The mayoral council of Steinsel is set to undergo a change, as Claude Schintgen of the Democratic Party (DP) has submitted his resignation as alderman, effective 1 October.
The municipality announced the decision on its official website. To fill the vacancy, the council has proposed Guy Schiltz from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) to the Ministry of Home Affairs as Schintgen’s successor.
Although Schintgen will leave his executive post, he will remain an elected member of the local council, where he has served for 32 years. In the current legislative period, Steinsel’s council is governed by a coalition majority formed by the LSAP and the DP.
