General Alain Duschène is resigning following 42 years of serving in the army.

52-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Steve Thull will be Alain Duschène's successor. The government council accepted the nomination on Friday morning.

Steve Thull has been undergoing internal selective processes since October and will gain the title of General. Thull, who has been in the army since 1991, will focus in particular on the army's modernisation. In an official statement, the government highlights the fact particular attention will be given to women's integration in the army, as well as internal and external communication.

Steve Thull completed his training at the Royal Military School in Brussels and can now proudly look back on a long career, including missions in Bosnia and Chad in Central Africa. He completed further training in Paris in 2006 and 2007. The new General is married and father of three.
